Enteric-Coated Peppermint Oil for IBS

Easing IBS with Enteric-Coated Peppermint Oil

For the estimated 55 million Americans who suffer from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), everyday symptoms like pain, cramping, bloating, and gas can considerably weaken quality of life. For help in soothing such symptoms, many patients rely on natural remedies, including enteric-coated peppermint oil. Made from the essential oil of the peppermint plant, these supplements feature an enteric coating to prevent the oil from being released in the stomach. Instead, the capsule releases the oil into the small intestines. Studies show that taking enteric-coated peppermint oil can relieve a number of IBS-related symptoms, such as abdominal pain and bloating. In addition, some research suggests that enteric-coated peppermint oil can help curb indigestion.

  1. I’m actually pretty shocked on how common IBS is. I like and appreciate the fact that people are moving away from meds to heal it because peppermint oil does work when it comes to treating IBS and abnormal symptoms around the colon.
