Ginseng and Fatigue in Cancer Patients

Ginseng Fights Fatigue in Cancer Patients, Mayo Clinic-Led Study Finds

This study from the Mayo Clinic found that Ginseng (American ginseng) was effective in helping patients with cancer related fatigue. Many of the patients were breast cancer patients.

The ginseng did take time to work as there wasn’t a lot of change after 4 weeks of time. However at 8 weeks the changes were fairly dramatic.

The researchers used 2000 mg of powdered American ginseng  daily. The felt the powdered form was superior to the alcoholic extract due to estrogenic effects of alcohol extract ginseng and those negative effects on patients with breast cancer.
