These days high cholesterol is becoming a problem in children. Glucomannin has been effective in helping to lower LDL’s and total cholesterol. Also high dosages of chromium-polynicotinate and policosanol have shown similar cholesterol lowering abilities.
This study looked at adding lower dosages of chromium-polynicotinate and policosanol to glucomannan to see their effects on cholesterol in children.
The combination did show effective cholesterol lowering ability in children. What is important to note however is that when adding starch to glucomannin there was no lipid lowering effect. So if using glucomannin it is important to avoid starch.
