The number of Americans with hearing loss has nearly doubled over the last 30 years. 3 out of 10 people over the age of 60 have hearing losses and those from 41-59 nearly 15% have a hearing problem. That is why it is exciting to see that a nutritional approach can be effective in hearing loss prevention.
This study looks at magnesium and the antioxidants beta-carotene, vitamin C and Vitamin E and their effects at preventing hearing loss.
The researchers found that while the individual nutrients helped when all combined together they have even a greater or a synergistic effect. The intake of these nutrients was associated with lower risks of hearing loss.
