I have found that mushrooms do make a great substation for meat. I recently tried the raw diet and found that portabella mushrooms did leave me full and satisfied. The good news is that mushrooms are high in vitamin D so not only will you be losing weight but also getting a good source of natural vitamin D.
If you are eating the mushrooms raw try to marinate them in some soy sauce and just a small amount of olive oil. I like to season them with a little chipotle powder for a bit of heat.
