Obesity linked to body’s fructose production


Researchers at the University of Colorado School of Medicine reported that the cause of obesity and insulin resistance may be tied to the fructose your body makes in addition to the fructose you eat.In recent years, people have been accustomed to using added sweeteners, such as high fructose corn syrup and table sugar (sucrose). And this has been one of the major factors in developing insulin resistance and obesity. But in the study published in the Sept. 10 edition of Nature Communications, the team led by researchers at the CU School of Medicine reports that fatty liver and insulin resistance may also result from fructose produced in the liver from non-fructose containing carbohydrates.
