Vitamin D and Pneumonia

Low D, high pneumonia Vitamin D deficiency increases chance of illness

A study conducted at the University of Eastern Finland showed that the deficiency in Vitamin D can increase the risk for pneumonia. Pneumonia is known as an infectious disease that has killed 50,000 people in the United States in the year 2009.

Research showed that the lack of Vitamin D weakens one’s immune system, thus, increases the risk for respiratory infections.
