Fumitory

Fumitory (Fumaria officinalis) is a member for the Fumariaceae family. The plant is named for the blue-green color which was reminiscent of smoke rising from the earth. According to ancient exorcists, the smoke from burning Fumitory had the power to ban evil spirits.

The above ground parts of the Fumitory plant are used for medicinal purposes. Fumitory hasa bitter and salty taste. Fumitory has been used for liver and gallbladder complaints. It has weak antispasmodic effects.
