Partridge Berry (Mitchella repens) is a member of the Rubiaceae family. It is a creeping evergreen shrub that is indigenous to the wooded areas of eastern and central United States. The whole plant can be used medicinally. The constituents of partridge berry are largely unknown; however, these constituents have been identified: tannin, bitter principle, saponins, mucilage, unspecified alkaloids, glycosides, and resin. Partridge berry can be used for a calming effect on the nervous system, is an astringent, and improves digestion. The main uses of partridge berry are female as it aids the reproductive system.
