Creatine can be found primary in meat or fish sources. It is considered a nitrogenous organic acid. It can be synthesized by the body. 95% of creatine is found in the muscle while 5% is found in the organs such as the brain, heart, retina, and other tissues. Creatine and phosphocreatine can be found in the skeletal muscle and help serve as a precursor to the energy molecule, adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Creatine is often used to help boost energy during a workout as it supplies energy to both the muscles and nerve cells. It is also used to help increase muscle mass.
