Xylitol

Xylitol (xylo-pentane-1,2,3,4,5-pentol) is found in almost all plant material, including fruits such as raspberries, strawberries, and plums; vegetables; and mushrooms. Xylitol can even be produced by the body during the metabolism of glucose in the liver. Xylitol is a natural, white crystalline substance that is used as a sweetner. It is considered a nutritive sweetner because it provides calories, just like sugar. Xylitol is also good for the teeth, stabilizes insulin and hormone levels, and promotes general good health.
