Ipomoea Turpethum is native to India although it can also be found in the Pacific Islands, China, and Australia. The dried root and stem can be used in medicinal formulas. The resin of this herb is a mild purgative and is used in cases of debility, toxicity, etc. In traditional Ayurveda, the treatment of disease begins with detoxification of the body and organs. In cases of liver damage or a sluggish liver, the buildup of toxins in the system puts additional pressure on the liver, and therefore it is necessary to cleanse the stomach.
