Dong Quai is a member of the Apiaceae/Umbelliferea family that is scientifically known as Angelica sinensis. The root of Dong Quai is used in herbal formulas. It has several coumarin constituents such as osthol, psoralen, and bergapten. Dong Quai also contains volatile oils.

Dong Quai has been used for thousands of years in traditional Chinese medicine and herbal formulas. Dong Quai is commonly used in formulas for gynecological complaints.
