Yellow Dock

Yellow Dock (Rumex crispus) is indigenous to Europe and Africa but grows wild in many regions of the world. The dried or fresh root and rhizome of yellow dock are used for medicinal purposes. It contains anthraquinone glycosides (chrysophanic acid, emodin, physcion), oxalates (oxalic acid, calcium oxalate), and tannins. Yellow Dock has reported astringent activities, mild laxative effects,and stimulates bile production. Yellow Dock has been used for acute and chronic inflammation of nasal passages and the respiratory tract, as a laxative, and a tonic.
