Virgin Sunflower Oil

Sunflower Oil is known scientifically as Helianthus annuus and is a member of the Asteraceae/Compositae family. Sunflower oil is pressed from the seeds of the plant, which is indigenous to North America but cultivated worldwide. Sunflower oil contians a high amount of linoleic acid. It is used as a source of polyunsaturated fat in the diet. Sunflower oil can be used orally for constipation. It is also used as a cooking oil and in topical solutions for wounds, skin lesions, etc. Sunflower oil can also be used as a massage oil.

Sunflower oil is well tolerated by most people. People allergic to other members of the Asteraceae/Compositae family may have an allergic reaction. Other family members include ragweed, marigolds, daisies, and many others.
