Pancreatin is used in oral formulas for digestion and flatulence. Pancreatin contains digestion enzymes such as lipase, protease, and amylase. Pancreatin enzymes activate the hydrolysis of fats, peptides, and starches in the small intestine. Pancreatin typically comes from pork or beef sources to help the body function properly. Pancreatin can become inactive when small amount of gastric acid are present.
