Chitosan comes from a N-deacetylated form of chitin when it is extracted from shells of crustaceans. Chitosan contains glucosamine and N-acetylgucosamine.
Chitosan is taken for weight loss as it is a suggested fat blocker. Chitosan is also effectively used topically to help with periodontitis.
