Yucca is a desert plant found primarily in the southwestern United States. Both the stalk and the root can be used for medicinal purposes. Yucca contains saponins seem to be responsible for the pharmological activity. Yucca has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and antiviral activity. Yucca may be irritating to both mucous membranes and the gastrointestinal tract.
