Rutin

Rutin is a flavonol glycoside made from flavonol quercetin. Rutin is an antioxidant that can track down free radicals such as superoxide radicals. Rutin has the ability to chelate metal ions such as iron, and like quercetin, can reduce capillary fragility. Rutin protects against damage from the asbestos, the cytotoxic effects of oxidation on the LDL, and gastric harm from ethanol. Rutin works to protect and maintain good health through antioxidant activity, as well as some anti-inflammatory and anticarcinogenic activities.

There are no known interactions associated with the use of rutin.

For the most part, rutin is well tolerated. Some people may experience mild gastrointestinal side effects such as headache, nausea, rash, and tingling.
