Methylmethioninesulfonium Chloride (MMSC) is vitamin U. The compound is not a vitamin but was given the name due to its usefulness againts ulcerations of the digestive system. Vitamin U is extracted from cabbage and other green leafy vegetables. It is not only helpful for ulcers of the digestive tract but also of the skin. Vitamin U has also been used for gastritis, colitis, and has an effect on secretory, acid-forming, and enzymatic function of the intestinal tract.
