Pyruvate

Pyruvate is used in both topical and oral formulas. Pyruvate, or pyruvic acid, is an alpha-keto acid. It can be converted to alpha-hydroxy acid latic acid, which helps exfoliate the surface layers of skin. It is often used in anti-aging topical formulas. Pyruvate also reduce the body's production of free radicals, increase lipid oxidation, and decreases carbohydrate oxidation. Pyruvate is popular for body-builders or those involved in intense exercise programs as it is thought to help increase arm and leg endurance. Pyruvate is also popular for weight loss.
