Ice Man Fungus (Fomes fomentarius) is a polypore that grows on wood, particularly birches, beech, and sycamore, in the termperate northern hemisphere. Iceman fungus grows in a hoof shape. An 'iceman' was discovered 500 years ago with three fungal objects, specifically Fomes fomentarius. Iceman fungus was used for burning and as a compression material. It is also known as Tinder Polypore.
