Motha (Cyperus rotundus) is commonly known as Nut Grass. It is a member of the Cyperaceae family. Motha is a perennial plant. The tubers can be used medicinally. Motha is a part of traditional folk medicines, such as Ayurveda. The roots are pungent, acrid, and cooling. Motha has been used as an astringent, diuretic, anthelmintic, and stomachic. It has been useful for fever, pain, vomiting, ulcers, sores, wounds, and the urinary tract system. Motha is not only used in supplementation but also incense and perfumes.
