MLC stands for marine lipid concentration. Lipids are a unique chemical compound that all organisms need to survive. The primary functions of lipids are as hormones, for energy storage, and membrane structure. The functional units of lipids are fatty acids. Lipids can be broken down into groups based on their chemical strucutre, phospholipids and triacylglycerols. Marine lipids come from fish oils and provide the body with essential fatty acids (EFAs).
