It has since been introduced to eastern Asia, Australia, and New Zealand; and is cultivated in Poland and Siberia. The plant has been used medicinally for over 2,000 years. The flower and leaves can both be used medicinally, as well as the oil derived from them. Two important constituents of St. John's Wort are hypericin, adhyperforin, and hyperforin.
