Valine

L-valine is essential to human nutrition. It is an amino acid first discovered in 1901. L-valine is one of the branched chain amino acids, the other two being isoleucine and leucine, found in high concentrations in the muscles. Valine has stimluatine effcts. It is needed for muscle metabolism, repair and growth of tissue and maintaining the nitrogen balance in the body. Since valine is one of the branched chain amino acids, it can also be used as an energy source for the muscles and preserves the use of glucose.
