Codonopsis, (Codonopsis pilosula) is a member of the Campanulaceae family. There have been no reported side effects or interactions with other drugs. Codonopsis is used to promote weight gain and to increase endurance. It has also been used as an immune tonic.

Codonopsis is sometimes used as a substitute for ginseng in general formulas.
