Maltitol
Maltitol is a member of the bulk sweetner family known as polyols or sugar alcohols. Maltitol is made from the hydrogenation of maltose. It is almost as sweet as sugar, a non-cariognic, and significantly reduces calories. Maltitol is used to in the production of sweets, specifically sugarless, chewing gum, chocolates, baked goods and ice cream. The sweetner gives food a creamy texture and sweetness.
