Yerba Santa (Eriodictyon Californicum) is a member of the Hydrophyllaceae family. The plant can be found in California, Oregon, and parts of Mexico. The leaf can be used for medicinal purposes. It contains several flavonoids, tannins, and a small amount of volatile oil. The flavonoids present in Yerba Santa are eriodictyol, chrysoeriol, and cirsimaritin. Yerba Santa may have mild expectorant and diuretic effects. Yerba Santa has been used for coughs, colds, asthma, and broncitis. There have been no reported side effects with Yerba Santa.
