Japanese Knotweed

Knotweed (Polygonum aviculare) is a member of the Polygonaceae family. The plant can be found in the temperate regions of the world. The whole flowering plant can be used for medicinal purposes. Knotweed contains both flavonoids and gallic acid. The flavonoids found in knotweed are avicularin, kaempferol, quercetin, and myrecitin. Knotweed has demonstrated astringent and anti-inflammatory activity.

Knotweed is used for cough/broncitis and inflammation.

Knotweed has no reported side effects. There have been no reports of negative interactions with other drugs either.
