The seeds and leafy twigs can be used in medicinal formulas. Oriental Aborvitae contains the volatile oil thujone as well as flavonoids. The plant may possess antibacterial activity. It has traditionally been used for coughing, nose bleeds, and hair loss. Oriental Aborvitae has also been used in formulas for headaches, fever, nervousness, insomnia, and more.
