Cytidine 5-diphosphocholine
Cytidine 5-diphosphocholine is more commonly known as citicoline. Citicoline comes from the conversion of phosphatidylcholine from choline. When taken orally, citicoline is metabolized into cytidine and choline. Both of these compounds are absorbed by the body and taken up by the brain cells. In the brain, the compounds can be convereted to other compounds necessary for the proper functioning of the brain.
Citicoline is taken for types of dementia as well as head trauma, stroke, memory loss with old age, glaucoma, and more.
