Bitter Almond Oil
Bitter Almond is a member of the Rosaceae family. The tree is indigenous to Western Asia but is not cultivated worldwide. The fruit can be used for medicinal purposes as well as the volatile oil. It contains amygdalin, benzaldehyde, fatty oil, and HCN. Bitter Almond can be used in both topical and oral formulas, although it is no long commonly used in oral formulas. Topically, bitter almond is used as a fragrance in many bath and body products as well as to help nourish the skin.
