Japanese Sophora
Japanese Sophora is known by a variety of other names, including, Pagoda Tree, Sophora japonica, Chinese Scholartree, and Styphnolobium japonicum. The Japanese Sophora is indigenous to China and Japan, although it can be found throughout Europe as an ornamental and roadside tree. The applicable part of the pagoda tree are the seeds. The constituents are quinolizidine alkaloids, lectins, flavonoids, polysaccharides, fatty oil, and protein. Japanese Sophora has been used as a homeopathic dilution for dysentery.
