Maitake

Maitake (Grifola frondosa) is a large mushroom that grows deep in the mountains of Japan. Maitake, often referred to as the 'dancing mushroom' is now cultivated in the United States. The fruiting body and the mycelium are used medicinally. The mushroom is highly edible. Maitake contains polysaccharides, a potent, immune-boosting compound. The polysaccharides in maitake are among the most powerful discovered, specifically beta-d-glucan and it's 'D-Fraction.'

Maitake is being studied as an anti-cancer agent. In the past, it has been used as a supportive treatment of cancer therapy.
