B1 Vitamins / Thiamine
Vitamin B1 is also know as thiamine, an important water-soluble vitamin necessary to the body. B1 vitamins help the body process fat, protein, and carbohydrates. The body, each and every cell, contains B1 to help produce the fuel, adenosine triphosphate (ATP), that the body runs on. Vitamin B1 also plays a role in proper functioning of nerve cells. Vitamin B1 takes part in many functions of the body although the vitamin is not stored in the body. It is important that the body receives enough for energy and other life processes. B1 vitamins can be found in meat, legumes, grain, yeast, and wheat germ.
